Monster moth on the window

When I lived in Bend, Oregon we had an invasion of giant moths

every other year.  I happened to be there one year when they came.

This moth was found on our front window and it reminded me of

of those giant moths that we used to see in Oregon.  So nasty.

Why are moths so nasty and butterflies are so beautiful?
