After we returned to Colorado Springs following the
Fourth of July, we decided to visit a famous spot called
Garden of the Gods. It is a famous rock formation in the
center of Colorado Springs. It was once owned by a family
which their father's desire was to have a free park for
people to enjoy. Now the park is required to allow free
access forever. Finally, something you can enjoy without paying.
It is quite beautiful and the day we went it was a nice morning.
However, a few minutes after we started our walk around the
park, it started to rain and there was lightning. The park guard
came around and told us we had to leave until the lightning
stopped. We got drenched before we even got back to the car.
This formation is called "kissing camels".
Most of the park is not open for climbing without
a permit, but there are a few little rocks they allow
the kids to climb around on. The kids really had
a great time too.
This is our cousin Gibson!
Below is my brother Robb and his family.
The picture would be perfect had Kelly not
stuck her bunny ears in there!
This is the beginning of the down pour. We tried
to hide under the trees to see if it would stop but
it didn't stop until after we were soaked.
