Aloha Maui

We went to Maui for a couple of days to see Aaron's mother while
she was on Maui on vacation. It was a fun little weekend trip. If
only we had the money to do them more often. I just love Maui so
much. I could move back there if we had the opportunity come up.
Anyhow, we got there on a Thursday afternoon and just spent the
evening with Grandma Leslie and Papa Rudy. It was really windy
and the beach was rough the whole weekend. We spent a lot of time
in the pool. The girls had a blast in their swimsuits all weekend.

We wanted to do one thing while on Maui and that was to
go to the Maui Ocean Center. I really wanted the girls to
see the aquarium there because it is a million times better
than anything we have on Oahu. The girls loved it all. They
especially enjoyed the seahorses. Keeley didn't want to leave.
Even after we left the aquarium and went to lunch they
wanted to go back to the aquarium for more.

This was an upside down jellyfish...really cool!

After the aquarium and lunch at Peggy Sue's we went to show
Rudy some of the south part of the island. We went through
Kihei and down to Makena. We showed him the place where
we got married. The exact spot. It is just as beautiful as it was
then. Maui is so gorgeous.
Kayla was resting in the sand at Big Beach. It was hot and windy
and the waves were shore break. The girls had a really good time.
They were so worn out by the time we got done they fell asleep
in the car on the way home. I have to say, I forgot how sticky the
sand was at Big Beach. There are no showers and the sand is so fine
that it sticks like crazy. I think they had sand in their hair and ears
for the rest of the weekend. I just love that beach though, so beautiful.
Friday night we went out to dinner with Leslie and her friends.
We went to Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahaina. The beach is
right there and the girls happened to see the little crabs going in
and out of their holes at sunset. They wouldn't stop talking about
them all through dinner. Keeley started to get impatient toward
the end and kept grunting..."crabs, I want to see the crabs."

Kayla was so funny on the way back to the car because she
wouldn't take off her sunglasses and she was walking with
both hands in her pockets. She looked so cool!
On Sunday we decided to drive around the northern tip of the
island and see the sites. However, we didn't plan that well
and when we left Lahaina both cars were on 1/4 tank of gas.
We were lucky and got all the way back to Wailuku before we ran
out...JUST IN TIME! By the way, I had to pee the hole trip and
there is no where to stop. In fact it is a one lane road and
Aaron was freaking out. Pretty funny actually. It was quite a
trip for all of us. Leslie did get some of the "World's best"
banana bread in the middle of NO WHERE!
The picture below is a great surf spot and snorkle spot. The
water was really murky though and we chose not to venture
down to check it out. Beautiful place though.
